The Final Title is Locked.
Citizens,
If you have been following this project since the first directive, you know that we have been operating under a working title: Unseen, Unheard. That title served us well. It captured the condition of the characters -- the invisible, the silenced, the bodies processed without names. It was cinematic, thematic, and it carried the project through its earliest phase.
But a working title is a temporary identity. It is a placeholder while the real one earns its place.
Last night, the core team met for Dev Sync 1. We presented the treatment brief. We walked through the three acts -- The Baseline, The Frontline, The Liquidation. We reviewed the seven development questions that still need answers. And we tallied the title vote.
The result: 4-2 in favor of The Price of Staying.

I held my vote in reserve in case of a tie. It was not needed. The team spoke, and the decision is final.
Why this title?
The Price of Staying is the name of Ellie Burdg's novel, the source material that started everything. It honors the book directly. It promises the audience something honest: a transaction, a cost, no guarantee of escape. It is the correct contract with the viewer.
For those who voted for Unseen, Unheard: your preference is on the record. That title is not disappearing. It will live on as our internal project code and as a thematic tag for the marketing campaign. It is doing a different job, but it is still working for us.
What this means for the project.
Starting now, all documents, campaign materials, and department communications switch to The Price of Staying. The IMDb listing (tt43642525) is being updated to reflect the change. The treatment brief is locked. The creative development bible is the governing document.
The Crowdfundr Phase One campaign is now projected to launch just before or immediately after Dev Sync 2 on August 27, 2026. The team is exploring whether an earlier launch is possible without jumping the gun. The timeline has shifted slightly, but the goal remains the same: secure the resources needed to build this film. The BioValue Generator -- the first piece of Halcyon technology that will exist outside the script -- is still the initial Ko-Fi goal at $500. Nothing about the vision has slipped. Only the schedule has tightened.
A note on the team.
Hayden Fay has formally shifted from Director of Photography to Editor, Producing Partner, and PA (flexible, individual days). He is now investigating the Production Designer role. This is not a step back. It is a protection of his time and a better alignment of his skills with the project's needs. Hayden has a full-time schedule at a funeral home. He is not taking on writer duties in addition to the PD workload; we are not asking him to choose between his livelihood and this film, or to stack responsibilities until something breaks. We are asking him to do the work he is best suited for, on the schedule he can sustain.
We are also actively recruiting for several open priority roles: Director of Photography, Production Manager, additional writers for subsequent drafts, Location Scout, and Casting Director. If you know someone in Colorado or beyond who belongs in this conversation, reach out.

I will see you on the frontlines.
